We’re expanding our Science & Technology practice internationally by relocating Principal Steven Ritchie to the firm’s newly opened London office. This move marks an important step in our international growth, bringing Ci’s specialized expertise in state-of-the-art laboratories, manufacturing facilities and pharmaceutical environments closer to clients throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and beyond.
As a leader within Ci’s Science & Technology practice, Ritchie brings decades of experience delivering complex research, laboratory, manufacturing and life sciences facilities. With his upcoming move to London in September, he will focus on extending Ci’s relationships with current clients that have international operations while building new connections with organizations across the overseas markets.
“Many of the clients we work with in the United States are operating on a global scale, and they need partners who understand their facilities, processes and business objectives across markets,” said Ritchie. “Establishing a presence in London allows us to bring Ci’s technical expertise closer to those clients. It’s an exciting opportunity to introduce the way we approach Science & Technology design to a much broader market.”
Our Science & Technology practice provides architecture, planning, interiors and specialized lab and manufacturing planning for clients ranging from emerging companies to global industry leaders. The firm’s portfolio spans research and development, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing and other highly technical environments.
Ci’s Lab & Manufacturing Planning team is a key differentiator, working alongside the client from the earliest stages of development to translate complex workflows, equipment requirements and operational needs into efficient, adaptable spaces. The team, which includes an analytical chemist, a microbiologist and a compounding specialist, understands both the science taking place within a facility and the infrastructure required to support it. They will bring their knowledge of processes, standards and facility requirements to projects abroad while collaborating with the project team and local partners to address jurisdictional requirements and regional delivery practices.
“Our goal isn’t simply to establish another office—it’s to build meaningful relationships in the market and become a trusted resource for organizations developing increasingly complex Science & Technology facilities,” said Ritchie. “We have a deep bench of expertise within Ci, and London gives us a platform to bring that knowledge to new projects and partnerships.”
Ci opened its London office in 2026 as the firm’s first international location, creating a strategic connection between its growing US offices and opportunities throughout the UK, Europe and other international markets. With Ritchie now based in London and supported by Ci’s multidisciplinary team across the United States, the firm is positioned to provide clients with the specialized knowledge of a focused Science & Technology practice backed by the resources and experience of a growing international architecture firm.
