We're thrilled to celebrate Griffin Sanderoff, NOMA, Assoc. AIA, as a recipient of the 2025 AIA Baltimore Emerging Professional President's Award. This honor recognizes proficiency and exceptional accomplishments to the profession by those who have been working in the architecture field for less than ten years.

Griffin's visionary leadership, deep community commitment, and extraordinary impact establish his role as an advocate for equity in the built environment.

“I'm truly grateful to be acknowledged among so many talented and inspiring peers,” Designer Griffin Sanderoff said. “It's a privilege to contribute to a profession and a city that continue to challenge and energize me.”

As a designer focused on commercial and multi-family design, Griffin has consistently pushed boundaries through elevating voices, building community, and leading by example across Baltimore and beyond.

He co-chairs the AIA Baltimore Urban Design and Emerging Professionals Committees and serves on the boards of AIA Maryland and the Baltimore Architecture Foundation.

His civic and professional leadership extends to Baltimore NOMA's Student Engagement Committee, the AIA National Regional and Urban Design Leadership Group, and the Baltimore Greenway Coalition Steering Committee. Griffin also volunteers with the Baltimore City Department of Planning, the Neighborhood Design Center, and as a juror at Morgan State University's School of Architecture & Planning.

Earlier this year, he launched the inaugural AIA Baltimore Urban Design Showcase, a trailblazing new platform that brings together architects, urban designers, citizens, developers and other stakeholders to celebrate impactful, equity-driven urban design projects. This effort is just the beginning of Griffin's ongoing work to promote inclusive design, elevate peers, and strengthen human-centered design networks.

Griffin also shared his reflections on attending the 2025 AIA Conference on Architecture in Boston in his article, "Attending AIA25 on a Budget: One Emerging Professional's Path." His message: the profession thrives when young and diverse voices are not just present, but leading.

Griffin's passion, service, and vision continue to inspire the next generation of changemakers in architecture and urban design.
