The IDEXX Horizon Center is a 114,000-square-foot cGMP manufacturing facility designed to support the long-term growth of IDEXX Laboratories, a global biotechnology leader in veterinary, water and food diagnostics. Strategically located on a 25-acre site within the Downs Innovation District, a redeveloped former racetrack in Scarborough, Maine, the facility enhances IDEXX’s ability to research, develop and manufacture advanced diagnostic tests while expanding its regional footprint. As one of the anchor tenants of the Innovation District, IDEXX’s investment not only strengthens its own operations but also serves as a catalyst for economic development in Southern Maine, reinforcing the region’s emergence as a hub for life sciences and high-tech manufacturing.

The program includes R&D laboratories, flexible manufacturing spaces, a high-bay warehouse with integrated cold and freezer storage, and 40-foot ceilings to accommodate large-scale production needs. The building also houses collaborative office environments and employee-focused amenities such as a full-service cafeteria designed to attract and retain top talent in the life sciences industry. The facility supports IDEXX's purpose to enhance the health and well-being of pets, people and livestock. The center’s scalable infrastructure allows for future expansion and evolving production needs, positioning IDEXX to meet increasing global demand for its products.
