“Sean has a distinctive knack for bringing warmth and a human element to what could be cold, impersonal facilities,” Larsen said. “This dovetails with our own S&T design philosophy. We’re looking forward to working with him as we extend our already strong and growing specialization.”

Prior to joining CI Design, Cullen was a project designer with boutique biopharma lab/technology design firm TRIA. As the key first hire for the firm, he established its architectural production standards, templates and methods, and worked with clients including Procter & Gamble/Gillette, Entegris, Moderna Therapeutics, Sartorious, Synageva BioPharma and Capital Group Properties. Previously, he served in design roles with Signer Harris Architects (which was acquired by Perkins+Will) and I Design & Associates.

“We are delighted to bring Sean into the CI Design family,” adds Christopher Ladd, AIA, NCARB, CI Design vice president and principal. “In addition to his gifts as a designer, he is known for mentoring younger staff, which will be critical as we continue to grow our S&T practice.”

For more than 25 years, CI Design’s team has offered innovative, sustainable and value-creating design solutions for S&T and other commercial facilities, including wet and dry labs, specialized testing facilities, and control rooms for chemical storage, distribution and treatment. Clients have included Insulet Corp., EMD Millipore, Sigma Millipore, P&G/Gillette, Pfizer, ARRIS and other private and public companies. CI Design is a period of rapid expansion, especially in the S&T practice area, with two principals, Raffe Khazadian and Daniel Madru, joining the practice in recent months.

“I’m excited to to work with extraordinarily gifted design professionals,” Cullen said. “CI is already a leading S&T firm and I am looking forward to being a part of its continued growth.”

Cullen earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Boston Architectural Center, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
