CI Design Continues Growth, Adds Designer Sam Lynch
BALTIMORE – CI Design has named Sam Lynch as a designer, continuing the international architectural design firm’s rapid expansion in 2019.
Lynch joins CI from JP2 Architects, where he guided various projects, including multiple renovations of the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, as well as the redevelopment of the Northwood Commons shopping center in Baltimore and the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) bookstore. Prior to serving with JP2, he was a designer at Transforming Architecture, focusing on residential architecture.
“Sam’s experience in multiple sectors of real estate, especially retail and residential, will benefit our many clients who are looking to densify and diversify their projects into true communities,” said John Larsen, AIA, NCARB, president of CI Design. “We’re delighted to welcome him aboard.”
The recipient of an AIA National Convention Scholarship in 2019, Lynch also co-chairs the AIA Urban Design Committee. He earned both Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees from Savannah College of Art and Design.
“Given my previous work and interest in community-based design, I’m incredibly excited to join a firm with a history of innovation in mixed-use projects around the U.S.,” Lynch said. “And I hope to gain experience with our science & technology professionals, as well.”
Mengru Li Joins CI Design as Designer
BALTIMORE – Mengru Li has joined CI Design as a designer, the latest in a series of staff expansions at the international architectural design firm this year. She will be based in the firm’s Baltimore office.
Li, who recently earned a Master of Architecture degree from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, joins the firm after externships with Mass Design Group in Boston and CCDI Group in Chengdu, China, and an internship with Open Architecture in Beijing. Her projects have included the MARS Case in Beijing and an Aerospace Research Institute in China.
“Mengru’s international training and experience will bring a new dimension to our various mixed-use projects, and complement the work we’ve already done around the globe,” said John Larsen, AIA, NCARB, president of CI Design. “We’re delighted to welcome her to our firm.”
Li earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Chongqing University in China.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of a project from beginning to end, placing it in the context of its community,” Li said. “CI Design has always shared that philosophy, and I’m excited to join them!”
