BOSTON and BALTIMORE (April 8, 2019) -- Daniel Madru, LEED AP, will join CI Design as a principal effective May 10, 2019, continuing the international architectural design firm's strength and expansion in the Science & Technology practice area.
Madru's extensive experience and innovative thinking in terms of S&T design, as well as in the Corporate Office/workspace arena has included all aspects of design, construction, and project management, said John Larsen, AIA, NCARB, president of CI Design. Madru will be based out of the firm's Boston office.
"Dan's decades of experience in this sector spans work in the design of laboratories, manufacturing facilities and development spaces, a sector that we are continuing to expand," Larsen said. "And his history of close communication with clients aligns perfectly with CI Design's philosophy.We're excited to welcome him aboard."
Prior to joining CI Design, Madru spent more than 30 years at Margulies Perruzzi Architects, as the primary leader and contact at the firm's Science & Technology Studio. There, he and his team incorporated the Lean design and management philosophy, devising a streamlined and cost-effective process to create clean rooms, research & development, and manufacturing spaces, among other projects. His clients have included the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Lincoln Laboratory, Charles River Labs, IQE, NN Inc., Collins Aerospace, Siemens Healthcare, Entegris, Alpha Labs and EMD Millipore. His extensive portfolio includes corporate office space and workplace strategy design, new buildings and additions as well as corporate and retail banking specialties.

Madru is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). His philanthropic efforts include serving as President of the Gardner Masonic Charity and Educational Society and as a Trustee of the Bricher Scholarship Fund. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Boston Architectural College and a Master's of Science in Architecture from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture.
He resides in the Boston area with his wife Kathleen and their son and daughter.
